Dennis Esokon was named the league MVP, propelling his side to the title
Prisons Kenya have retained their Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) men's league crown after seeing off General Service Unit (GSU) in a thrilling final best-of-three series played at Kasarani Indoor Arena.
The Dennis Mokua-coached Prisons came from a.set down to win Game Two of the series 3-1(19-25,25-19,25-21,25-19), finishing the job after a Game One straight-sets victory.
GSU were on fire in the opening set, winning it 25-19 but that was as far as their fairytale comeback went as Prisons dominated the rest of the sets for victory with superb performances from setter Kelvin Maiyo who connected well with Dennis Esokon, the 2023/24 season Most Valuable Player (MVP), to deliver some lethal attacks, matching on to victory.
"This victory means everything. Defending the title against a side as strong as GSU in such a format of play confirms that our win last season was no fluke," Prisons skipper Hudson Chesoli who missed the final out on injury said.
